British wines are becoming world-renowned. Buy Britain Wines uncovers hidden-gems curated by a Master of Wine. Discover award winning English sparkling wines through to surprising English red wines
Buy Britain Wines is a partnership between Buy Britain and Corkk.
Our aim is to showcase the hidden gems of the English wine world – helping you to discover excellent local wines that you almost certainly won’t find on supermarket shelves.
Indeed, many of them are only available in the locale of the winery so, unless you live nearby, you’d probably never even know they existed.
With the help of our partners Corkk, who specialise in sourcing English wines, we are able to find and market these brilliant British wines, bringing them to a wider audience.
And of course, this is another way that we can all help support small businesses in the UK.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO WE SELECT THE WINE?
Each bottle of wine is carefully selected by a Master of Wine, who uses their knowledge and expertise to choose high quality, good value wine.
DO TASTING NOTES COME WITH THE WINE?
Yes, each wine will have tasting notes, including food pairings and background to the winemakers. These are written by our Master of Wine.
WHO IS OUR MASTER OF WINE?
Clive Barlow is our Master of Wine. Clive started his wine career working on an English vineyard back in the 1980’s – he really was an early adopter – and hence has a real passion and knowledge of English wine. He passed his Master of Wine exams in 1999, has a wonderful selection of wines at the Goods Shed in Canterbury and is often found judging (and chairing panels of judges) at International Wine Awards.
WHY JUST ENGLISH AND WELSH WINE?
Buy Britain is all about celebrating quality British made products and supporting small local business. While it would be wonderful if we could source wines from all over Britain, our climate means that – for the time being at least – it is only feasible to produce wines of international standard, in the primarily southern areas of England and Wales. The growers and winemakers there are increasingly producing internationally recognised wines of very high quality. We also love that drinking these exciting wines means we are naturally lowering our carbon footprint.
CAN I CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION?
Yes, of course. You can cancel your subscription up to a week before your next delivery date by going to the My Subscriptions section of your Buy Britain account. You can also adjust your subscription if you want a change but don’t want to fully cancel. For example you can increase/decrease the frequency and you can increase/decrease the number of bottles per delivery
IS YOUR PACKAGING ECO FRIENDLY?
Yes. At Buy Britain and Corkk we are conscious of the environment and strive to be as eco friendly as possible. All our packaging is 100% recyclable. And 70% of the packaging used is made from recycled materials. We look to improve this further with the suppliers we work with. We have also considered the eco impact in relation to our delivery. We have agreed to have all our orders collected every week, so that we can reduce emissions as much as possible. We hope you agree it’s worth the slight delay to your order.
WHAT ARE THE P&P COSTS?
We charge a flat rate of £8.50 for UK wide delivery. This reflects the special packaging and premium carrier which is needed to ensure that your wines arrive in the best possible condition.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU SEND YOUR ORDERS OUT?
We normally have 2 deliveries per week in order to reduce our carbon footprint. It is much more eco friendly to dispatch in batches rather than having the courier company come each day. Hence, we have arranged a bi-weekly pick up from our couriers to dispatch the orders. It also enables us to manage orders from some of the smaller artisanal vineyards. Whilst we recognise you may not receive your order immediately we hope you appreciate that this will help. If you have any special requirements for a time sensitive delivery, please let us know.
WHAT IS THE AVERAGE DELIVERY TIME?
We will send out your order as soon as possible and we aim to ensure your first delivery arrives within a week. However, it sometimes takes a little longer as we are working with some artisanal vineyards. We will inform you when we ship your order.
DO YOU LET US KNOW WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO DELIVER YOUR ORDER?
Yes, working together with our courier company we will email you when we are about to send the order out. If you provide your telephone number the courier will also text you the time slot the delivery will be.
WHAT IS YOUR RETURNS POLICY?
Please see our standard site-wide returns policy here
WHAT HAPPENS IF A BOTTLE ARRIVES BROKEN?
Please let us know as soon as possible by contacting us
